Tried Windows 10 on three of my PCs. Windows 10 was a step backward in every way, except it can use a touch screen! (I won’t even get into all the customer control features that it forces or tries to force on us.) All my PC’s are back happily running Windows 7. Worth the extra cost over regular windows, especially for gaming or picture/video editing. This is a Windows 10 home to Windows 10 Pro upgrade. If you don’t know the difference, save your money and stick with Windows 10 home. This is an OEM license and with it you cannot get direct consumer support from Microsoft. Buy and use at your own risk, in other words. This should clearly be stated in the online description but is not there. Windows 10 Pro Markings on the disk and purchase code. Windows 10 Home actually on the disk. Purchased two of these. Neither will activate. Error states the keys have already been used. The red seals on the packages were not broken.
The OS does not support Microsoft’s Media Player software to play videos / movies. Plus it is trying to be an iPad / tablet OS running on a PC and just simply misses by miles. I reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit; far superior OS and all the Microsoft software actually works. I was under the gun last weekend to upgrade a customer PC from WIN 10 HOME to WIN 10 Pro. I bought the software here, downloaded it and installed. It included a good product code to keep it all legal. I was half-expecting this to be a bogus license based on the low price, but it appears to be a genuine MS licence. It took maybe half an hour to receive their email If you’re just upgrading from win10Home to Pro, you don’t need to go through the download ISO / burn to media steps that you’ll be emailed. Simply open Settings, Update & Security, Activation, change ProductKey and that’s it. Windows will download the few updates it needs. However, product key would not activate as it has already been used by another computer!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed on the refund as I had already removed Product Key sticker and adhered to the back of my case and now the sticker is destroyed after trying to remove from case. I have used it on numerous computers. Teach classes on its use. It is a little infuriating why Microsoft wants to always move the location of things with each OS update.Mostly I wanted to write this to answer the question of the product key. If you look at the picture of the label it says OEM. That is original equipment manufacture. It would try to let it self install. Then it would tell me that a driver was missing. Buying a $100 Windows upgrade was a hard decision in that I can buy a new laptop for a couple of hundred dollars with Windows 10 installed. But, I am pretty happy with my HP laptop, except the constant reminder to upgrade my Windows 8 that popped up every time I started the computer! I do like being rid of those stupid tiles. The hidden Start button. The computer seems a little slower running Windows 10. Microsoft’s instructions were non-existent. But, I went on the web and found some helpful advice.Buying a Windows upgrade is like buying new tires for your car. But, I could have spent that hundred bucks on something a lot more enjoyable. Windows started having some activation issues… i called microsoft and they said the product key i had was from windows 8, or 8.1, does not matter, and it was BLOCKED.
Glad to say that on Windows 10 there is not much to do, other than to turn off some items regarding privacy and adds. I don’t like the use of app store and the fact that Microsoft auto-updates apps like photo and contacts. I like to use my own and prefer to keep those on a separate device so they won’t be comprised. I do love Windows Defender and security options, finally I don’t have to buy a separate Anti-Virus tool, I can just run Malware bytes periodically. The product code was al
