When I opened the plain looking package I was confused as to what to do next. I did not notice any instructions. At this point I was really wishing I had bought the retail package. On the lower left hand part of the label about Ξ’ΞŽ of an inch in is a scrape off label. I used my recently cut fingernails. Underneath it on 3 lines and 6 point font is the product key. There is some protection over it, but it seems quite possible to mess it up if you don’t know what it is. This is a very customer unfriendly process with no instructions that I could find.Once I got past the product key the darn thing loaded and was running well in no time. The software is worth 4 stars without the label scrape.Tip - I always separate my data drive from the programs and operating system and regularly back each of them separately. I use Windows Explorer to copy my data onto a backup drive and Blu-Ray disks. I had a copy of windows 7. Had a Microsoft account. I’m sure I’ll find out down the road. I was worried that I could not find a product key anywhere in the packaging. So I re-read the product description - no help. Then I read through the comments and one person mentioned, β€œWhen you get this package, on the inner envelope on the sticker that says β€œThis is not a CQA, there is a silver Microsoft patch. Stupid me did not realize this was a scratch off that revealed the license. I just entered it, it took, no more annoying β€œActivate Windows” watermark.” Sure enough, what looked like the old windows sticker you’d find under a laptop was actually the key under a scratch-off layer. It would be nice if the product description included this little tidbit πŸ™‚ There’s an outer package envelope and an inner DVD sleeve. The scratch-off product key is on the inner DVD sleeve. It was put in the worst little envelope possible. I built an amazing custom computer for my wife , everything boots up first try. Put the disk in and it is installing without any problem….. I just hear click, click, click… Then β€œWindows cannot install required files……”keyforrest, the last 5 thing I bought were damaged. I understand you are fully animated, but perhaps that is not a always a great thing. Perhaps it is time to send your robots to sensitivity training to stop destroying my purchases. Normally I do not care, but this was for my wife as an anniversary gift. She is an architect and needs a powerful computer to complete jobs. I feel like an idiot by not giving her it on time, something that could have been avoided with careful packaging.
